Pets take centerstage at Christmas costume contest in Bolivia

La Paz, Dec 23 (EFE).- Dogs and cats of all sizes and even a bee were the protagonists of a Christmas costume parade and contest held Thursday at the Casa de la Mascota (House of Pets), a municipal unit responsible for animal welfare in La Paz.

The pets came with their owners to the contest dressed as Santa Claus or Grinch, some dressed like reindeers and and others in Christmas prints.

While rain somewhat delayed the parade, that time was used to administer rabies shots and other vaccines, as well as provide free vitamins and antiparasitic drugs to the dogs and cats present there.

The activity was organized by the Unit of Integral Animal Health and Zoonoses under the Mayor of La Paz.

“They bring us joy all year round, bring us happiness and what better way to celebrate than with a party so that dogs and cats can spend Christmas in the best possible way and as healthy as possible,” said the Unit’s head Andrea Pinto.

The awards, which were given to all participating pets, consisted of croquettes, feeding dishes, pillows, barber vouchers and small Christmas cakes but made especially for pets. EFE
