MEMPHIS, TN (LPL/WMC) — Dos niños resultaron heridos después de que el techo cayera sobre ellos mientras dormían.
El incidente ocurrió en una casa en South Holmes Street, mientras que Magaly, de 6 años, y Edilzar, de 4 años, dormían en sus camas.
Los bomberos de Memphis llevaron a los niños al Hospital Infantil de Le Bonheur.
Los seres queridos dicen que Magaly y su hermano menor estarán bien.
Su casa de alquiler es otra historia.
La familia es de Guatemala. Dicen que han estado en el dúplex durante un año y han tenido problemas con ratones y cucarachas.
También han tenido problemas para que el propietario responda a las solicitudes de mantenimiento.
El sitio web del Asesor del Condado de Shelby muestra que Tonga Properties es el propietario de la casa, junto con docenas de otros edificios en Memphis.
El domingo por la noche, el dueño de la propiedad Tonga Nguyen dijo que la casa en Holmes estaba en buena forma y declinó hacer más comentarios.
“Tengo que hablar con mi seguro. No puedo decirte nada. Ese techo es muy fuerte. No sé lo que pasó. Y tampoco lo sabemos. Entonces, ya sabes, no puedo decirte nada ahora”. “, dijo Nguyen.
La familia Benítez ahora debe encontrar otro lugar para quedarse.

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) — Two boys were injured after the ceiling fell on top of them while they were asleep.
The incident happened at a home on South Holmes Street, while 6-year-old Magaly and 4-year-old Edilzar were asleep in their beds.
Memphis Firefighters rushed the boys to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Loved ones say Magaly and his younger brother will be okay.
Their rental home is another story.
The family is from Guatemala. They say they’ve been in the duplex for a year and have had problems with mice and cockroaches.
They have also had trouble with getting the landlord to respond to maintenance requests.
The Shelby County Assessor’s website shows Tonga Properties owns the house, along with dozens of other buildings in Memphis.
Sunday night, property owner Tonga Nguyen said the house on Holmes was in good shape and declined further comment.
“I have to talk with my insurance. I can’t tell you nothing. That ceiling very strong. I don’t know what happened. And we don’t know either. So you know, I can’t tell you anything now,” said Nguyen.
The Benitez family must now find another place to stay.
Though homeless, they’re grateful that Magaly and Edilzar weren’t seriously injured.
