Lewandowski leads Barcelona to 4-1 road win over Real Sociedad

San Sebastian, Spain, Aug 21 (EFE).- Barcelona’s Polish striker Robert Lewandowski was the big star of the team’s 4-1 road win over Real Sociedad on Sunday, scoring two of the team’s goals and notching an assist that were key in the Catalans’ first victory of the season.

The match was played before an almost full Reale Arena in San Sebastian, Spain, with some 36,201 spectators in the stands.

The duel got off to a great start for the visitors when, on the very first play, Lewandowski managed to get the ball into the net for the 1-0, putting the game right where Xavi Hernandez’s boys wanted it.

But Real Sociedad didn’t fold and Isak – who remained a danger to the visitors – evened things up just three minutes later on a pass from Silva, beating Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, in the net for Barca.

Despite the frenetic rhythm with which the match had gotten under way, things settled down as play progressed, with both teams creating chances for themselves on virtually every play, with Ferran getting a good opportunity for Barca that came to nought and Merino and Kubo getting close – but no cigars – for Real before the break.

Both teams stayed on the attack after the intermission, but it wasn’t until the 65th minute that Dembele was able to find the twine again for Barcelona, this time on an assist by Ansu Fati on his very first touch of the match.

It was about all she wrote for the Basque squad as Barca surged to their third goal, this one scored by Lewandowski, and finally Ansu Fati made it 4-1 in the 79th minute for the end result.
