3-year-old boy found days after going missing in Australian bush

Sydney, Australia, Sep 6 (EFE).- A three-year-old boy was rescued on Monday four days after he went missing from his family’s rural property in the Australian state of New South Wales.

Anthony ‘AJ’ Elfalak, who is autistic and nonverbal, was spotted by a police helicopter in an area with bushes in the town of Putty.

He was drinking water from a stream about 500 meters from his home when he was found by the authorities, according to a video released by the police.

The boy “has been located a short time ago. He is yet to be assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics,” the police wrote on Twitter.

AJ’s father told local media that the boy had small scratches and ant bites, saying it was a miracle he was found alive after going missing last Friday.

Following the rescue, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison expressed his relief and thanked the authorities for their work.

“Thank goodness. What a relief. I can’t imagine how traumatic this experience has been for AJ and his parents. Glad to hear he’s safe. Thanks to all at NSW police and our paramedics,” he tweeted.
