MEMPHIS, TN (WREG) — The Memphis firefighter accused of killing a man during a fight at a downtown restaurant had his bond lowered Tuesday from $350,000 to $5,000.

Cameron Land, 26, was charged with an ‘E’ felony of criminally negligent homicide after a fight that turned deadly at Little Italy restaurant Saturday.

Leslie Ballin, Land’s attorney, asked Judge Karen Massey on Monday to lower his bond, saying that Land had been a firefighter for four years and had no record.

The attorney claimed this was a mutual fight that unfortunately had a bad ending. He says his client is not a danger to the community.

Ballin is now asking for a recognizance release for his client.

Land’s next court date is scheduled for April 1.
