Police officer in Spain allegedly kills daughters, herself

Cuenca, Spain, Dec 15 (EFE).- A 42-year-old female police officer has allegedly died by suicide and killed her two daughters, aged 9 and 11, after she reportedly shot them at a regional law enforcement’s barracks in Spain before taking her own life, emergency services reported on Thursday.

The incident took place at 7:19 am in the family home within the Civil Guard barracks in the hamlet of Quintanar del Rey, in central Spain, emergency services sources told Efe.

Sources close to the investigation also told Efe that it was one of the woman’s colleagues who raised the alarm when the Civil Guard officer did not turn up for her shift.

The colleague reportedly found the 42-year-old woman, who had died from a gunshot wound, lying next to her two dead daughters, who had also been shot.

The same sources have confirmed that current investigations suggest the officer killed her daughters before taking her own life.

An emergency doctor has traveled to the scene and has so far only certified the death of the three people. EFE
