Popular Literary Initiative Promotes Local Authors

Iniciativa literaria popular promueve autores locales

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — A collaboration between local novel authors, organizations and local government promises to combat literary “deserts.”

LaDell Beamon of Heal the Hood and Shelby County Commissioner Erika Sugarmon promote culturally relevant literacy with comics that teach ethics to children. The books are written and illustrated by local creatives. The setting of the stories is Memphis, Tennessee.

The book and comics vending machines are located at three schools: Belle Forest Community School, Lowrance Elementary, Hickory Hill Elementary and the Laundry Supercenter business, located at 6376 Winchester Rd #1, Memphis, TN 38115.
