The 2019-2020 School Year Starts Soon

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Las vacaciones de verano están a punto de terminar y los niños volverán a clases en los próximos días: en Shelby County Schools, al igual que en las escuelas de Arlington, Bartlett, Collierville y Germantown, el período escolar 2019-2020 comienza el 12 de agosto. Por lo mismo, aquí te traemos una lista de cosas que debes tener en cuenta para que tus hijos tengan un exitoso año escolar.
Como sabrás, las inscripciones ya están abiertas en los siguientes enlaces en internet:

Los requisitos para las inscripciones en cualquiera de estas escuelas incluyen:
¤ Dos comprobantes de residencia, ya sea la licencia de conducir del Estado de Tennessee, una factura actual o reciente de MLGW, un contrato de renta de vivienda, una tarjeta de beneficios de asistencia pública o del gobierno, un recibo de impuestos de propiedad, un recibo municipal de agua o un recibo de hipoteca. Los padres separados que vivan con otra persona deben presentar una prueba de residencia notariada (Notarized Shared Residency Affidavit).
¤ Todos los estudiantes deben estar al día con sus vacunas y exámenes físicos, o tener un comprobante (médico) de exención para poder asistir a la escuela.
¤ Para las inscripciones en internet -tanto en SCS como en el resto de las escuelas de la región- se requiere que los estudiantes tengan un código de acceso bajo el nombre de PowerSchool.
En cuanto a las vacunas para los niños, es indispensable que los estudiantes de Kindergarten, séptimo grado y los que sean nuevos en cualquier colegio del condado de Shelby reciban su certificado de inmunización del Departamento de Salud de Tennessee, el cual puede ser obtenido por medio de un médico particular o en el propio Departamento de Salud.
Las vacunas requeridas son:
Para los niños que entren a la guardería infantil (child care), preescolar o pre-kindergarten:
- Difteria, Tétanos y Tos Ferina (DTaP)
- Poliomielitis o Polio (IPV u OPV)
- Sarampión, Paperas, Rubéola (1 dosis de cada una)
- Varicela (Lechina): 1 dosis o un récord de que el niño ya tuvo la enfermedad.
- Haemophilus influenzae tipo B (Hib): para menores de 5 años solamente.
- Hepatitis B (HBV)
- Vacuna Antineumocócica (también llamada PCV13): para menores de 5 años solamente.
- Hepatitis A: 1 dosis, para niños mayores de 18 meses.
Para el Kindergarten:
- Difteria, Tétanos y Tos Ferina (DTaP)
- Hepatitis B (HBV)
- Sarampión, Paperas, Rubéola (1 dosis de cada una)
- Poliomielitis: dosis final cuando el niño cumple 4 años.
- Varicela (Lechina): 2 dosis o un récord de que ya tuvo la enfermedad.
- Hepatitis A: un total de 2 dosis, con un espacio de seis meses entre ambas vacunas.
Alumnos del séptimo grado (incluyendo a los inscritos)
- Difteria, Tétanos y Tos Ferina (DTaP), a menos que se haya colocado en menos de cinco años.
- Verificación de inmunidad a la varicela: 2 dosis o un récord de que ya tuvo la enfermedad.
Alumnos nuevos en las escuelas de SCS:
- Difteria, Tétanos y Tos Ferina (DTaP)
- Hepatitis B (HBV)
- Sarampión, Paperas, Rubéola (1 dosis de cada una)
- Poliomielitis: dosis final cuando el niño cumple 4 años.
- Varicela (Lechina): 2 dosis o un récord de que ya tuvo la enfermedad.

En TeacherLists.com, los padres pueden encontrar la lista exacta de los útiles escolares necesarios. Sólo hay que hacer clic en los carritos de compra ya precargados de Walmart, Target, Staples, Office Depot y Amazon, pagar y pedir que los materiales sean enviados directamente a la casa. Target, Walmart y Staples también ofrecen la opción de recoger la compra en la tienda. Es súper fácil y muy conveniente.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Summer vacations are about to end and children will return to school in the next few days: at Shelby County Schools, including the schools that are in Arlington, Bartlett, Collierville and Germantown, classes start on August 12.

Schools’ requirements for enrollment include the following:
¤ Two proofs of residency: a TN driver’s license or state-issued ID, a current Memphis Light Gas & Water (MLGW) bill, a lease/rental agreement, public assistance/government benefits, a real estate tax receipt, a municipal water bill, a mortgage statement or a deed. Parents/guardians who live with another person must provide a notarized Shared Residency Affidavit, along with two (2) proofs of residence during registration to the school. The homeowner must also be present and provide two (2) proofs of residence.
¤ Students must be up to date on required immunizations and physicals or have an approved exemption on file to attend school.
¤ For online registration – both at SCS and at the rest of the schools in the region – students are required to have a PowerSchool access code.

Regarding vaccines for children, it is essential that Kindergarten students, seventh graders and new students receive a TN Department of Health Certificate of Immunizations issued by the TN Department of Health or from a private physician.
Vaccinations required for children enrolling in childcare facilities, pre-school, pre-Kindergarten:
- Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DTaP, or DT if appropriate)
- Poliomyelitis (IPV or OPV)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (1 dose of each, usually given together as MMR)
- Varicella (1 dose or history of disease)
- Haemophilus influenzaetype B (Hib): age younger than 5 years only.
- Hepatitis B (HBV)
- Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV): age younger than 5 years only.
- Hepatitis A: 1 dose, required by 18 months of age or older.
Children enrolling in Kindergarten:
- Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DTaP, or DT if appropriate)
- Hepatitis B (HBV)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 doses of each, usually given together as MMR)
- Poliomyelitis (IPV or OPV): final dose on or after the 4th birthday.
- Varicella (2 doses or history of disease)
- Hepatitis A: total of 2 doses, spaced at least 6 months apart.
All children entering 7th grade (including currently enrolled students):
- Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis booster (“Tdap”): not required if a Td booster dose given less than 5 years before 7th grade entry is recorded on the DTaP/Td.
- Verification of immunity to varicella: 2 doses or history of disease.
Children who are new enrollees in a TN school in grades other than Kindergarten or 7th:
- Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DTaP, or DT if appropriate)
- Hepatitis B (HBV)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 doses of each, usually given together as MMR)
- Poliomyelitis (IPV or OPV): final dose on or after the 4th birthday.
- Varicella (2 doses or history of disease)
