PSG star Sergio Rico in ‘serious condition’ after falling off horse

Seville, Spain, May 28 (EFE).- Paris Saint Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico was seriously injured on Sunday after a horse riding accident, sources from the health center in the southern city of Seville where he is being treated told Efe.

Rico fell off his horse in the village of El Rocío (Huelva) and sustained serious head injuries.

The soccer player was transferred to the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville by helicopter, the same source from the hospital told Efe.

The 29-year-old’s “general condition is serious,” the source added.

The goalkeeper trained in the Sevilla youth academy and played for the city’s first team from 2014 to 2019.

He then went on to play at English club Fulham and was later hired by PSG, who last season loaned him to Real Mallorca. He returned to the Parisian team for this season.

He was called up on Saturday for PSG’s second to last game of the French league and played in Strasbourg where they drew 1-1 and were proclaimed champions of the tournament.

Rico traveled to El Rocío after the game to join the village fete that was underway.EFE
