Cairo, Dec 6 (EFE).- Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday for his first visit to the Gulf since 2019.
Later in the day, he will also continue on to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, according to Moscow’s official Tass news agency.
Putin was received in Abu Dhabi by President Mohammed bin Zayed, the official Emirati news agency WAM reported.
The leaders will meet with their respective delegations before holding one-on-one talks, Tass said.
The Kremlin’s international advisor Yuri Ushakov said on Tuesday that the Russian president will address the conflict in Gaza, the war in Ukraine and the prospects for cooperation within the framework of OPEC+.
In January, both Saudi Arabia and the UAE will join the BRICS group, originally made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
Putin’s last visit to both Arab countries took place before the coronavirus pandemic, in October 2019, a year after bin Salman visited Russia on the occasion of the opening of the 2018 World Cup. EFE
