Putin: Russia will continue to strengthen its army to face threats

Moscow, Jun 21 (EFE).- Russia will continue strengthening its military to tackle risks and potential military threats, president Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday.

“We will continue to strengthen our Armed Forces taking into account potential military threats and risks based on modern armed conflicts,” he said in a televised speech addressing graduates of military colleges in Moscow.

Russia will prioritize providing the troops with advanced weapons systems that “will determine the combat capabilities of the army and the navy for years and decades to come,” he added.

Moscow will begin using the new Sarmat heavy intercontinental ballistic missile system by the year’s end, he added.

The Russian president praised officers and soldiers taking party in what Moscow describes as a military operation in Ukraine. EFE
