Manchester City sign Kalvin Phillips for 6 years

London, Jul 4 (EFE).- Kalvin Phillips has signed for Manchester City on a six-year deal from Leeds, the Premier League champions announced on Monday.

City have agreed to pay £42 million to sign the midfielder who has racked up 235 matches with Leeds over the past eight seasons.

“I am absolutely delighted to have joined Manchester City,” England’s midfielder said. “City have again proved to the best team in the country with an amazing squad and a manager in Pep Guardiola who is rightly considered to be the finest in the world.”

Phillips shot to fame in 2020 when Leeds earned a Premier League spot. The midfielder then played a key role in England’s Euro run to the final where the Reds lost to Italy.

City director of football Txiki Begiristain said: “Kalvin is a player that we have long admired, and at both domestic and international level, he has proved his fantastic ability and quality over the past few seasons”. EFE
