Rashford leads United to 3-0 home win over Leicester

Sports Desk, Feb 19 (EFE).- Marcus Rashford scored twice to continue his excellent run as Manchester United hammered Leicester 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The United academy product has now scored 22 goals in all competitions this season, the highest-scoring of his career.

Rashford broke the Leicester offside trap to gather Bruno Fernandes’ lofted ball and struck a fierce shot into the far corner to open the scoring.

The goal seemed to deflate the visitors, who had created a handful of good chances early on but found David de Gea in fine form in the United goal.

Jadon Sancho replaced Alejandro Garnacho at half-time and United were much improved, quickly hitting the bar through Lisandro Martinez’s header as the home side dominated.

Rashford again raced clear on 58 minutes but he thought he had been denied his second goal of the afternoon until VAR ruled that he was level with Leicester defender Wout Faes.

Sancho added a third goal minutes later after exchanging passes with Fernandes on the edge of the box as United cruised to a comfortable win.

The victory means United are just three points behind Manchester City in second place, while Leicester are 14th with 24 points. EFE
