Real Madrid romp 6-0 against Levante

Sports Desk, May 12 (EFE).- Vinicius Jr. posted his first hat trick with Real Madrid on Thursday in the champions’ 6-0 rout of bottom-of-the-table Levante, who are headed back to the second division after six seasons in LaLiga.

It was also a special night for Karim Benzema, who notched his 27th league goal – 44 in all competitions – of the season and became the No. 2 all-time scorer in the history of the Blancos.

Having already clinched their record 31st title, Real Madrid had nothing at stake, but were clearly eager to shake off last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Atletico in the capital derby.

Ferland Mendy got the party started in the 13th minute and Benzema made it 2-0 six minutes later.

Rodrygo extended the lead in the 34th minute with his seventh goal in eight matches and the hosts went to dressing room up 4-0 thanks to Vini’s goal right before the break.

The young Brazilian completed the triple with goals in the 68th and 83rd minutes.

The Blancos had two other goals called back for offside infractions and would likely have reached double-digits but for some fine stops by Levante goalkeeper Dani Cardenas. EFE
