Real Madrid’s Hazard in fresh injury woes ahead of Atalanta clash

Madrid, Mar 15 (efe-epa).- Real Madrid midfielder Eden Hazard will miss the upcoming UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg match against Atalanta after he sustained a muscle injury, according to Spanish side on Monday.

“Following tests carried out today on our player, Eden Hazard, by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the right psoas. His recovery will continue to be assessed,” the statement said.

The 30-year-old Belgian played against Elche for 15 minutes on Saturday, his first appearance after recovering from a thigh muscle injury that kept him out of action for six weeks.

On Sunday, he missed the group’s training at Real Madrid’s facilities.

Real Madrid play Atalanta in a second-leg last-16 tie on Tuesday evening. The Spanish team has a one goal advantage from the first leg.EFE-EPA
