Lviv, Ukraine, Oct 6 (EFE).- At least two people were killed and several were still trapped under rubble following a Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, reported regional governor Oleksandr Starukh on Telegram.

The Russian army fired seven rockets at residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia and, as a result of the attack, two high-rise apartment blocks were destroyed, he said.

“Preliminary data regarding on victims of the enemy attack! One woman was died. Another died in an ambulance. At least five people are under the rubble of the buildings,” Starukh said.

“As a result of enemy attacks, fires broke out in the city,” he added.

Photos he posted showed smoke rising from huge piles of rubble and destroyed buildings.

Many people were saved, among them a three-year-old girl.

In an earlier message Starukh said that people were under the rubble, and rescue services and doctors arrived, with first responders working to get people out.

He later reported a further attack and warned people to stay in shelters. EFE
