All Set to Celebrate Elvis’ 87th Birthday

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — All is set at Graceland to celebrate Elvis’ 87th birthday. The big party will take place from January 6 to January 9, 2022, and will be attended by Priscilla Presley and other special guests.
Some of the events that are part of the program are:
THURSDAY, JANUARY 6
¤ MEMPHIS EXCURSION WITH TOM BROWN & ANGIE MARCHESE
Take a bus tour of Memphis with Tom Brown and VP of Graceland Archives and Exhibits Angie Marchese as they take you by the locations that were part of Elvis’ life growing up and living in Memphis. Hear Elvis stories and memories – and enjoy some stops along the way.
Departs from The Guest House at Graceland at 1:00 p.m..

¤ ELVIS BIRTHDAY BASH & EVENING CHRISTMAS TOURS
Celebrate Elvis’ birthday by dancing at his Birthday Bash, viewing exhibits at Elvis Presley’s Memphis, and taking evening tours of the Graceland Mansion. This special night tour includes various live tour guides inside the Mansion and Christmas music from Elvis.
5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Graceland Mansion Christmas Tours.
6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Elvis Presley’s Memphis.
Tickets: $90 for adults (11 and up); $58 for youth (5-10); children 4 and under are free.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 7
¤ GRACELAND EXCURSIONS: TUPELO, MISSISSIPPI
While Elvis Presley became the biggest name in music history and achieved worldwide fame and fortune, his roots in the Northeast Mississippi city of Tupelo were humble. Guests will experience the rural setting of Elvis’ upbringing and see where it all began in the two-room house where the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll was born, the church he attended in his youth and see artifacts from his modest beginnings.
Departs from The Guest House at Graceland at 8:30 am, returns to The Guest House at Graceland by 3:30 p.m..

¤ ELVIS BIRTHDAY PROCLAMATION CEREMONY, BIRTHDAY CAKE AND COFFEE
8:30 a.m. – North Lawn, Graceland Mansion.
Enjoy a ceremony with Priscilla Presley and Graceland/EPE officials, a birthday cake cutting and a proclamation of Elvis Presley Day by Memphis and Shelby County officials. Fans who are unable to attend can watch the ceremony online for free via Graceland’s Livestream page.
Complimentary birthday cake and coffee will be served at Vernon’s Smokehouse, located across the street from the mansion at Elvis Presley’s Memphis, immediately following the ceremony.
¤ CONVERSATIONS ON ELVIS
Hear the stories from those who knew the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll best. Hosted by Tom Brown, the event will include a special appearance by Priscilla Presley; Terry Blackwood, who performed with Elvis as part of The Imperials; and Elvis’ jeweler, Lowell Hays.

Meet Betty Harper, officially licensed Elvis Presley artist, who has drawn over 20,000 images of Elvis, and view art from her collection.
¤ GRACELAND TOURS
Tours of Graceland Mansion and Elvis Presley’s Memphis will be available daily. Graceland Mansion will be decorated for the holidays indoors and out through January 9.
¤ FREE WALK-UP TIMES FOR MEDITATION GARDEN
During Elvis’ birthday celebration, Graceland will be offering free morning walk-up visits to the Meditation Garden from January 6 to January 9, 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Evening walk-ups will be available from January 7 to January 9, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on January 8, 1935, and moved to Memphis with his parents when he was 13 years old. He recorded his first song, “That’s All Right,” at Sun Studio in Memphis in 1954.
Graceland was Elvis’ home until the day of his death, which happened on August 16, 1977. He was 42.

Elvis Presley nació en Tupelo, Mississippi, el 8 de enero de 1935, y se mudó a Memphis con sus padres cuando apenas tenía 13 años de edad. Grabó su primera canción, “That’s All Right”, en el Estudio Sun de Memphis en 1954.
