Rome, Jul 2 (EFE).- Jose Mourinho received a warm welcome from hundreds of AS Roma fans in Italian capital on Friday as he gears up for his new job as the team’s manager.
The Portuguese manager, who joined Tottenham Hotspur in November 2019 after Mauricio Pochettino was let go, was sacked by Spurs in March having failed to win a trophy and with the team languishing outside the European places in the Premier League.
He has signed a two-year contract with Roma that runs until 30 June 2024.
Around 500 Roma fans braved the heat outside the city’s Ciampino airport to welcome their new manager.
Although he had a disappointing stint with Spurs, Mourinho brings with him a wealth of experience in Europe’s top-fight having won the Champions League twice — once with Porto and later with Inter Milan — as well as the Premier League three times, the Serie A twice and LaLiga with Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid respectively.
