London, Jul 4 (EFE).- Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to miss training on Monday amid reports that he wants to leave the Premier League club.
The Red Devils have reportedly allowed the Portuguese star to postpone his return to the team after the summer break for family reasons.
Reports emerged over the weekend that the 37-year-old, who was United’s leading goal scorer last season, wants to leave United as they are unlikely to mount a title challenge during the coming season.
United, who finished a disappointing sixth in the league, had to settle for a Europa League spot having failed to make the Champions League.
Ronaldo, who rejoined United in summer 2021 on a two-year deal having been at the Theatre of Dreams from 2003 to 2009 before signing for Real Madrid, has one year remaining on his contract.
United have insisted the striker is not for sale, amid reported interest from Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Napoli.
