Organization Offers Workshop on Electoral Participation in the Latino Community of Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — On Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 10:00-2:00 PM, the organization Memphis Para Todos offers a workshop to guide the Latino community to participate more actively in the electoral process.
Yuleiny Escobar, a member of the organization that is offering the workshop, said: “We know that the Latinx community in Shelby County is often overlooked by political campaigns, and elected officials, who focus their outreach on eligible voters. But for tens of thousands of residents, English is a second language for families that work arduously and pay their taxes. Families that are impacted by the policies and laws that are set in place after an election. They are residents who have a stake in our democracy, and that can make a difference whether they are eligible to vote or not.”
Orientation will be held at El Mercadito de Memphis 3766 Ridgeway Rd. Memphis, TN 38115.
Yuleiny Escobar added: “While we fight to expand access to voting for ALL, we must still engage with all in our community about participating in our democracy. Join us for this training on how to engage with the Latinx community in regards to voter education, voter engagement and alternatives on how to participate in this electoral process regardless of immigration status.”
The workshop will be held 100% in Spanish and lunch and childcare will be provided for the participants.

Yuleiny agrego: ”Si bien luchamos para ampliar el acceso al voto para TODOS, aún debemos involucrarnos con todos en nuestra comunidad para participar en nuestra democracia. Únase a nosotros para esta capacitación sobre cómo interactuar con la comunidad Latinx en lo que respecta a la educación electoral, la participación de los votantes y las alternativas sobre cómo participar en este proceso electoral independientemente del estado migratorio.”
El taller se llevará a cabo 100% en español y se proporcionará almuerzo y cuidado de niños.
