Russia accuses Ukraine of terror over ‘kill Russians’ statement
Moscow, May 8 (EFE).- Russia Monday accused Ukraine of not only sponsoring but also organizing terrorist acts, in response to comments made by the head of Ukrainian military intelligence General Kyrylo Budanov.
The general’s statement, asserting that “we will keep killing Russians anywhere on the face of this world,” has drawn strong condemnation from the Kremlin.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov expressed his outrage at a press conference.
“This is a truly monstrous statement. This statement, and what Budanov said, is a direct confirmation that the Kyiv regime is not just sponsoring the terrorist activity, but is an immediate organizer of this activity,” Peskov told reporters.
“This statement gives another very important characteristic of the Kyiv regime.”
Peskov said Russia strongly condemned such statements.
“We have special services that will do everything they must amid such statements. No one should have any doubts about this,” he warned.
He asked the international community, particularly the West, not to overlook the statement of the Ukrainian military intelligence chief.
“We will closely monitor the reaction of European capitals, as well as Washington – especially Washington – because it is very difficult to imagine that such terrorist statements from Kyiv can remain without condemnation. Therefore, today we will wait for these condemnations,” Peskov said.
He said the statement by Budanov vindicated President Vladimir Putin’s apprehensions and his decision to launch a special military operation against Ukraine.
When questioned by a Western media outlet about the recent attack on Russian nationalist writer Zajar Prilepin, the head of Ukrainian intelligence made the controversial comment, saying, “All I can say is that we have been targeting Russians, and we will continue to do so anywhere in the world until Ukraine achieves complete victory.”
Peskov emphasized that Budanov’s statements highlight a “very significant characteristic of the Kyiv regime.”
“We have dedicated security services that will take all necessary measures in response to these statements,” cautioned the Kremlin spokesperson.
Budanov made the controversial comment after a Western media outlet during an interview asked him about a wave of audacious attacks in Russia.
“All I will comment on is that we have been killing Russians, and we will keep killing Russians anywhere on the face of this world until the complete victory of Ukraine,” he said. EFE
