Russia launches nightlong attack on Ukraine with missiles, drones

Kyiv, May 26 (EFE).- Russian forces launched 17 missiles and 31 attack drones against Ukraine in a nightlong assault, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Friday, claiming it intercepted ten missiles and 23 UAVs.

The nighttime attack began at 10 pm on Thursday and lasted until 5 am Friday, the air force reported on its Telegram channel.

The air force said the Russians shifted the direction of attack to the east, attacking critical infrastructure facilities and installations of the Ukrainian defense forces.

The state-run Ukrinform news agency said defense forces located and destroyed all missiles and drones the Russians launched to attack the capital Kyiv.

It was the 13th air strike on Kyiv in a row since the beginning of this month, city military administration head Serhiy Popko said.

Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles and drones almost every night.

The Russian forces also fired drones and missiles at the Dnipropetrovsk region, causing damages in a “very difficult night” attack, regional military administration chief Serhiy Lysak wrote on Telegram.

“It was loud, the enemy massively attacked the region with missiles and drones. Dnipro was hit. A fire broke out in a private household, but it has already been extinguished. Two houses and a car were damaged. Two private enterprises were also affected. Firefighters brought the fire under control,” he wrote. EFE
