Russia launches waves of missiles, drones against Odesa

Kyiv, Aug 14 (EFE).- Russia launched waves of drone and missile attacks against the southern port city of Odesa early Monday, resulting in injuries to at least three people, according to local authorities.

The attacks occurred around 1 am local time (23:00 GMT) with 15 Iran-made Shahed drones and eight Kalibr missiles, which were all destroyed by air defenses, Odessa region Governor Oleh Kiper wrote on Telegram.

“As a result of the downing of the rockets that the Russians aimed at the center of Odesa, debris damaged a dormitory of one of the educational institutions, a residential building and a supermarket,” Kiper wrote.

The three people injured were supermarket employees. Two of them were hospitalized.

The attacks sparked multiple fires in the city and blast waves smashed the windows of several buildings and damaged parked cars.

The governor reported that the Ukraine Air Force was previously aware of three attack groups heading towards Odesa and a fourth further south towards the city of Yuzhne. EFE
