Russian air defenses shoot down two drones heading to Moscow

Moscow, Aug 10 (EFE).- Russia’s anti-aircraft defenses shot down two drones heading towards Moscow early Thursday morning, reported the capital’s mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

“At about four o’clock in the morning, air defense shot down two strike UAVs flying towards the city,” Sobyanin wrote on his Telegram channel.

He added that one of the planes was shot down in the Kaluga region, south of the capital, and the other near the ring road about 50 kilometers from Moscow.

Drone attacks against the Russian capital have occurred with some regularity in recent weeks.

“Gradually, the war is returning to the territory of Russia — to its symbolic centers and military bases, and this is an inevitable, natural and absolutely fair process,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned on July 30. EFE
