Russian missile attacks in Zaporizhzhia cause two deaths, supply cuts

Lviv, Ukraine, Dec 5 (EFE).- Russian missile attacks struck several parts of Ukraine on Monday, including the southern region of Zaporizhzhia where at least two people were killed, Ukrainian authorities said.

Buildings were destroyed by the blasts, according to the Ukrainian state news agency Ukrinform.

A spokesman for Zaporizhzhia’s city council reported of consecutive explosions in the suburbs of the city.

Zaporizhzhia is home to Europe’s largest nuclear plant, which Russian forces are still occupying amid the advance of Ukrainian troops.

In Kyiv, air sirens were triggered by mid-morning, and residents were asked to evacuate and take shelter.

Water and electricity supplies were cut off in Odesa in the south and other cities across the country by the latest wave of Russian attacks against critical infrastructure and civilian targets.

The state company Ukrenergo reported that emergency cuts would be carried out in order to stabilize supplies after Russian missiles hit several parts of the network.

The attacks left both Odesa and the industrial town of Kryvyi Rih without electricity and heating, while in Mykolaiv there was an emergency cut-off while anti-aircraft alarms were activated. EFE
