Thousands line up ahead of Queen’s lying-in-state in London

London, Sep 14 (EFE).- Tens of thousands of people were lining up in central London on Wednesday ahead of Queen Elizabeth’s lying-in-state at Westminster Hall.

King Charles III and his sons, William – the heir to the throne – and Harry, will walk behind Elizabeth’s coffin for a procession from Buckingham Palace to the seat of parliament.

People were already taking up positions along the route the ceremonial procession will take later on Wednesday afternoon.

An estimated 750,000 people from across the country, as well as tourists, are expected to descend on central London to see the Queen’s coffin.

The late sovereign will lie in state until Monday, when the coffin will be moved to Westminster Abbey for a state funeral.

The culture ministry has warned that those who want to bid farewell to the queen should “be aware that extremely long queues are expected”. EFE
