Disney’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind’ to open in summer 2022

Miami, Nov 20 (EFE).- Walt Disney World Saturday announced that the highly-anticipated attraction “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind,” the fully indoor roller coaster, will open in summer 2022 at EPCOT as part of its 50th-anniversary celebration.

Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced the new attraction at Destination D23, asking Disney lovers to “cue up your mixtape and prepare for something awesome (…) because it is about to be save the galaxy time!”

The thrilling new family-friendly coaster matches the “grandosity” and fun of the blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy” films in what will be one of the longest fully enclosed coasters in the world, he said.

Academy Award nominee Glenn Close appeared in a video to reveal that she would reprise her role from “Guardians of the Galaxy” as Nova Prime, the leader of Xandar and commander of the Nova Corps.

“I am so excited to reprising my role as Nova Prime for all new attraction coming to EPCOT next summer. We cannot wait to see you all there so you can help us save the galaxy. See you soon,” said Close, dressed up as her character.

Her role belongs to the American fantasy movie released in 2014 and is based on the superheroes created by the Marvel universe.

The new rendering shows Xandar Gallery.

According to a Disney statement, it “is where you will discover more about the Xandarian people, culture and history, including their heroes like … the Guardians of the Galaxy.”

“It is all well and good until they show up, of course, and adventure ensues in an intergalactic chase through time and space.”

The coaster takes guests on an intergalactic chase through time and space with the heroes of Xandar, the recreational company said.

Walt Disney World Resort celebrated its 50th birthday on Oct.1, becoming the largest and most visited amusement park in the world, in continuous expansion and with new experiences in its four theme parks to celebrate its five decades of existence.

The 18-month commemoration has as its central attraction Cinderella’s Castle in the converted Magic Kingdom park, which displays gold pennants, glittering ornaments, and a 50th-anniversary commemorative shield.

The Disney World fantasy park in Orlando (Central Florida) is the largest theme park complex in the world.

It has water parks, golf courses, a sports center, hotels, hundreds of shops, restaurants, and numerous entertainment venues. EFE
