Salah misses penalty as Liverpool lose at Bournemouth

Sports Desk, Mar 11 (EFE).- Mohamed Salah missed a second-half penalty as Liverpool slumped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at relegation-threatened Bournemouth on Saturday.

Salah blazed wide from 12 yards after Adam Smith had handled Diogo Jota’s header, as Liverpool failed to score against the Premier League’s worst defense.

Following a famous 7-0 win over rivals Manchester United last week that Liverpool were hoping would spark a revival after an underwhelming season so far, the Reds again failed to impress on the English south coast.

After a decent start, their defensive frailties started to show and they conceded a soft goal to Philip Billing who finished easily from Dango Ouattara’s cross.

The defeat leaves Liverpool in fifth, three points behind Tottenham Hotspur, while Bournemouth climb out of the relegation zone with the win. EFE
