Salah scores as Liverpool beat Villa 3-0

Sports Desk, Sep 3 (EFE).- Liverpool continued their impressive start to the season as they cruised to a 3-0 over Aston Villa at Anfield on Sunday.

Amid speculation that star Mohamed Salah could soon be leaving the club after Liverpool rejected an offer of 150 million pound ($188bn) from Saudi side Al-Ittihad this week, the Egyptian forward tapped in the home team’s third goal shortly in the 55th minute to set up a comfortable conclusion to the match.

Liverpool had taken a third minute lead through Dominic Szoboszlai’s drilled shot from the edge of the box to open his account with his new team.

The Reds were 2-0 up 20 minutes later, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ball piercing Villa’s backline for Darwin Nunez to fire the ball onto the post and into the unfortunate Matty Cash, who deflected it into his own goal.

While Villa had a handful of good chances, Liverpool ended up comfortable winners and climbed to third place, behind Tottenham and Manchester City. EFE
