Sarri speaks of Ronaldo’s ‘champion mindset’ ahead of Udinese tie

Rome, Jul 22 (efe-epa).- Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri on Wednesday spoke of Cristiano Ronaldo’s “champion mindset” ahead of the Turin team’s tie with Udinese in the Serie A.

Juventus are on the hunt for their record-breaking ninth consecutive Serie A win and can boost their odds with a win over relegation-threatened Udinese Thursday but are not yet in the clear with Atalanta and Inter Milan still in the mix mathematically.

Ronaldo scored a brace for Juve in their last league match against Lazio on Monday, fueling title hopes for the Bianconeri.

At a pre-match press conference, Sarri said: “Cristiano feels really good, he has the great ability to focus immediately on the next objective. It’s a rare ability, he has a champion mindset.”

With the victory against Lazio, Ronaldo bagged his 30th goal of the season, making him the top goalscorer in the Serie A alongside Lazio forward Ciro Immobile.

There are four match days left in the Italian top-flight league and Juve hold a six-point advantage over second-place Atalanta and eight over Inter, meaning they could theoretically become champions on Thursday if they beat Udinese and Inter lose.

Sarri believes there is still room for improvement within the team but praised the attacking duo of Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala.

“I struggle to see the difficulty in making two players like Cristiano and Dybala coexist: they’re two incredible players.”

He said lapses in defending were counterbalanced by the fact the pair have scored 51 goals between them in two seasons.

On the upcoming clash, Sarri said: “We need four points, although, at this moment, winning is difficult for everyone.
