At least 12 killed in China floods

Beijing, Jul 18 (EFE).- Severe flooding in parts of southwest and northwest China killed at least 12 people over the weekend, state press reported Monday.

At least six people died and 12 are missing in Sichuan province after torrential rain triggered floods that forced a further 1,300 people from their homes, state TV channel CGTN reported.

Another six deaths occurred in the city of Longnan in Gansu province, northwest China, where 3,000 people were evacuated from flooding, CGTN added.

Dozens have died and millions of citizens have been affected by flooding in various regions of the country in recent weeks, including the mountainous Hunan province.

Last summer, flooding in the central province of Henan submerged entire neighborhoods and killed more than 300. EFE
