Memphis Man Arrested After Shooting at Attempted Robber

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL/WREG) — Un hombre de Memphis fue arrestado luego de que, según los informes, disparó contra un hombre que intentó robar a su esposa, amenazándola con un martillo.

Víctor Macías, de 57 años, ha sido acusado de dos cargos de asalto agravado y posesión ilegal de un arma de fuego.

La hija de Macías, Chelsea, dijo que su padre solo estaba haciendo lo mejor para su familia.

El incidente ocurrió en el domicilio 3100 de Jackson Avenue. Chelsea dijo que alrededor de las 4 p.m. del martes, su madrastra fue robada por un hombre mientras sacaba la basura de una de sus propiedades.

“El tipo se le acercó con un martillo, la jaló del pelo y la llevó al fondo del patio”, dijo Chelsea.

La policía de Memphis dice que la víctima le dijo al hombre que llamaría a su esposo Macías, y que él traería dinero. En lugar de dinero, Macías trajo una pistola.

Los informes policiales dicen que el sospechoso intentó escapar, pero eso no detuvo a Macías. Los documentos de la corte muestran que Macías saltó una cerca y le disparó al ladrón.

La policía dice que cuando Macías disparó contra el presunto sospechoso, casi hirió a otra persona ajena al robo.

Chelsea dijo que la mujer fue vista caminando con el sospechoso y que ambos habían tratado de robarle a su familia en el pasado.

“Ya han robado partes de nuestros autos”, dijo Chelsea. “Es simplemente ridículo. Ya han intentado entrar a la casa.

Chelsea dijo que cree que su padre no quiso hacer daño a nadie y que solo estaba protegiendo su propiedad y a su esposa.

Macias’s daughter, Chelsea, said her father was only doing what was best for his family.

The incident happened on the 3100 block of Jackson Avenue. Chelsea said around 4 p.m. Tuesday her step mother was robbed by a man as she was taking out the trash at one of her properties.

“The guy approached her with a hammer, pulled her hair and pulled her to the back of the yard,” Chelsea said.

Memphis Police say the victim told the man she would get her husband, Macias, and he would bring money. Instead of money, Macias brought a gun.

Police reports say the suspect tried to get away, but that didn’t stop Macias. Court documents show Macias jumped over a fence and shot at the man.

Police say when Macias fired at the alleged suspect, he nearly hit someone else unrelated to the robbery.

When police found Macias, he was holding a woman at gunpoint. Macias claimed the woman was also involved in the robbery.

Chelsea said the woman as seen walking with the suspect and both had tried to steal from her family in the past.

“They’ve already stole parts from our cars,” Chelsea said. “It’s just ridiculous. They’ve already tried breaking into the house.”

Chelsea said she believes her father meant no one any harm and was only protecting his property and his wife.

“How about if something would have happened to my stepmother?” Chelsea said. “He would have got away and he would have still went to jail because he had that gun.”
