Tehran shows support for women’s goalkeeper amid Jordan gender accusations

Tehran, Nov 19 (EFE).- Posters of Iranian goalkeeper Zohreh Koudaei have been put on display in Tehran to show support for the international player following accusations from the Jordanian Football Association that she was a man.

Zohreh Koudaei saved two penalties against Jordan during a crucial game in September that helped the Iran’s women team qualify for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup for the first time.

In early November it was revealed that the Jordan FA had requested a gender verification check for Koudaei in a letter to the Asian Football Confederation.

Koudaei since hit back at the claims and was quoted by Turkish press as saying she would sue the Jordanian FA. EFE
