Serena Williams skips Tokyo 2020 Olympics

London, Jun 27 (EFE).- American tennis star Serena Williams on Sunday announced she will not compete at next month’s Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

During a pre-Wimbledon press conference, the four-time Olympic gold medalist said she was “not on the Olympic list.”

“There’s a lot of reasons that I made my Olympic decision,” she said. “ I don’t feel like going into them today. Maybe another day.”

The 39-year-old earned the doubles gold medal in 2000, 2008 and 2012 and achieved her one singles gold medal in London nine years ago. She walked out of Rio 2016 empty-handed. EFE
