Shark attack kills 2 women in Egypt’s Red Sea

Cairo, Jul 3 (EFE).- Two women have died after they were attacked by a shark in a popular tourist destination on Egypt’s Red Sea Coast, Egyptian environment minister Yasmine Fouad confirmed Sunday.

Experts are investigating the circumstances of the accident, which took place in Sahl Hasheesh, in the southern part of Hurghada, on Friday, according to Fouad.

In a statement, Amr Hanafi, governor of the Red Sea, ordered the suspension of all activities in the vicinity of the incident following the attack.

Egyptian authorities have not given further information on the victims’ nationalities nor how the attack occurred.
