Toronto, Canada, Dec 18 (EFE).- At least five people were killed in a shooting at an apartment building in a Toronto suburb on Sunday night, police said.
The police said the sole suspect opened fire inside the building in Vaughan town, some 40 km north of Toronto.
The alleged perpetrator of the multiple murders died in an exchange of fire with the security forces.
York Regional Police spokesperson Laura Nicolle said officers were searching the building for more victims and ensuring that the injured, if any, received medical treatment.
Nicolle said that at least five people died but that the final figure could rise to seven.
The spokesperson said police still did not know the motive behind the multiple murders.
She said it was also not known whether the victims were from the same family, even if it appeared that more than one unit was affected. EFE
