Simmons Announces Two Additions to Women's Basketball Coaching Staff

La entrenadora principal de baloncesto femenino, Alex Simmons, anunció recientemente dos incorporaciones a su personal: Jayla Hemingway y Brea Elmore.

“La oportunidad para que nuestro personal crezca y al mismo tiempo contrate a dos jóvenes fantásticas es tremenda”, dijo Simmons. “Jayla y Brea tuvieron carreras exitosas en el baloncesto femenino y sé que se sumarán a nuestros estudiantes-atletas y serán un gran activo para lo que estamos construyendo”.

Hemingway se desempeñará como subdirectora de operaciones de baloncesto/asistente especial de la entrenadora en jefe. Originaria de Memphis, regresa después de una condecorada carrera universitaria. Pasó sus últimas tres temporadas en West Virginia, donde fue dos veces seleccionada para el primer equipo académico All-Big 12.

Elmore, ex alumna del baloncesto femenino de Memphis pasó la temporada pasada como entrenadora en jefe asociada en Chipola College, donde ayudó a llevar a las Lady Indians a un récord general de 24-8 y un viaje al juego de semifinales del Distrito del Atlántico Sur FCSAA DI/NJCAA.

Head women’s basketball coach Alex Simmons announced two additions to her staff recently, with Jayla Hemingway and Brea Elmore set to join the coaching team.

“The opportunity for our staff to grow while bringing in two fantastic young ladies is tremendous,” Simmons said. “Jayla and Brea both had successful women’s basketball careers, and I know they will pour into our student-athletes and be huge assets to what we are building.”

Hemingway will serve as the Assistant Director of Basketball Operations/Special Assistant to the Head Coach. A Memphis native, she returns after a decorated collegiate career. She spent her final three seasons at West Virginia where she was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection.

Elmore, a Memphis women’s basketball alumnus, joins the Tigers as a graduate manager. She spent last season as the Associate Head Coach at Chipola College where she helped lead the Lady Indians to a 24-8 overall record and a trip to the FCSAA DI/NJCAA South Atlantic District Semifinal game.

“Memphis basketball means so much to me, and I’m honored to be able to give back to the place that gave me so much,” Elmore said.
