US authorizes another $725 million in military aid for Ukraine

Washington DC, Oct 14 (EFE).- The United States Department of Defense announced Friday the authorization of an additional $725 million in military aid for Ukraine, taking the total aid to the Eastern European country to $18.2 billion.

The new US military aid package to Ukraine to fight the Russian invasion includes additional ammunition for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS).

HIMARS are long-range missile systems that the US has given Ukraine in the past and are proving decisive in Ukrainian defense.

In a statement, the US Department of Defense said the new aid includes 23,000 155-millimeter artillery pieces and 500 155-millimeter precision guided artillery pieces.

With this amount, the US has now allocated $18.2 billion in military aid to Ukraine since President Joe Biden arrived at the White House in January 2021, while the sum has increased exponentially since the Russian invasion. EFE
