Russia says Western weapons sent to Ukraine will be ‘crushed’

Moscow, Jan 23 (EFE).- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Riabkov said Monday that Western weapons sent to Ukraine will be “crushed” by the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine and that the Kremlin’s objectives in the military campaign will be fulfilled in any case.

“Russia’s opponents continue to raise the stakes, but, as we stated with absolute firmness and confidence more than once: the goals of the special military operation will be achieved in any case, and all this military equipment, which is coming to Ukraine from various sources, it will be literally crushed,” Riabkov said, according to the official TASS news agency.

Following Friday’s meeting at the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group meeting at the United States Ramstein air base, Kyiv will receive dozens of light infantry vehicles, more air defense systems, ammunition and howitzers, among other contributions from its western allies.

On the possibility of the US supplying Ukraine with long-range missile systems, known as ATACMs, the number two in the Russian Foreign Ministry said that this is part of the “psychological war” against the country.

“This is an element of psychological warfare, which is not ceasing but intensifying the US-led West’s hybrid war against Russia,” Riabkov said.

The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs said the escalation of the armed conflict is the “most dangerous path, the consequences of which can be unpredictable.” EFE
