15 killed in Russian strike on Chasiv Yar apartment block: Zelenskyy

Kyiv, Jul 11 (EFE).- An attack by the Russian army on a residential area of Chasiv Yar, in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region, on Sunday killed at least 15 civilians, the Ukrainian president announced.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his regular overnight address on Telegram that two high-rise buildings in the city were destroyed in the Russian missile strike.

“Dozens of people are under the rubble. Six were saved. There are fifteen names in the list of the dead and, unfortunately, this is not the final number,” he said.

“The Ukrainian army is holding on firmly, repelling attacks in various directions,” he added.

Zelenskyy also questioned the alleged “operational pause” by Russia in the Donbas region, where Donetsk is located, and other parts of Ukraine over the past week.

“Thirty-four air strikes by Russian aircraft over the past day is an answer to all those who came up with this ‘pause,'” he said, urging Ukrainians to remain united.

“We can withstand this war only together.” EFE
