Cristiano Ronaldo tests positive for Covid-19

Lisbon, Oct 13 (efe-epa).- Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for Covid-19 and will leave the Portuguese national team camp to quarantine, the country’s football federation (FPF) confirmed Tuesday.

The striker will miss tomorrow’s Nations League match against Sweden.

“The Portuguese international is well, without symptoms and in isolation,” the Portuguese federation said in a statement .

The rest of the national team squad tested negative for Covid-19, it added.

Ronaldo, who plies his club trade with Juventus, is the third Portugal player forced to abandon the team’s facilities with a positive test result after José Fonte and Anthony Lopes.

The 35-year-old captained the team against France in Paris on Sunday.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star, widely regarded as one of the best players of all time, uploaded a photograph to his Instagram account on Monday evening showing him having dinner with the Portugal squad. EFE-EPA
