‘Full House’ actor Bob Saget dies at 65

Los Angeles, US, Jan 9 (EFE).- American actor Bob Saget, best known for his lead role in the television comedy series “Full House,” died on Sunday at the age of 65.

Saget, who was born in Philadelphia in 1956, was found unresponsive in a hotel room in Orlando, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida said.

“The man was identified as Robert Saget & pronounced deceased on scene. Detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case,” it added.

Saget had performed on Saturday night at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall in Jacksonville as part of his comedy tour.

“Loved tonight’s show @PV_ConcertHall in Jacksonville. Appreciative audience,” the actor tweeted after the show alongside a photo. “I had no idea I did a 2 hr set tonight. I’m happily addicted again to this shit.”

Saget was best known for his role as widowed father Danny Tanner in the popular sitcom “Full House.”

Other cast members included John Stamos, Lori Loughlin and twins Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen, who took turns playing the youngest daughter, Michelle Tanner, in the TV series.

After acting in nearly 200 episodes over eight seasons of “Full House,” which ended in 1995, Saget reprised his role as Danny Tanner in Netflix’s spin-off “Fuller House” between 2016 and 2020.

Saget was also known for his stint hosting the “America’s Funniest Home Videos” between 1989 and 1997.

He had a long career as a stand-up comedian that led him to travel across the country.

On the small screen, he was also the voice of future Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) who narrated the popular TV series “How I Met Your Mother” (2005-2014).

Saget directed several comedy films including “Dirty Work” (1998), the mockumentary “Farce of the Penguins” (2006) and “Benjamin” (2019).

Celebrities took to social media to express their grief over Saget’s death.

“I am broken. I am gutted. I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby,” John Stamos wrote on Twitter about his “Full House” co-star.

Jon Stewart said he was “Just the funniest and nicest,” while comedian Drew Carrey tweeted: “Well this one hurts. I loved Bob Saget. He gave me so much encouragement when I first started out. He was a real friend to me too. Not just a mentor. I always looked up to him. He was SO damn funny and so kind.”

“Sail on my friend Bob Saget With your huge heart and abject lunacy,” Whoopi Goldberg wrote. EFE
