Princes William, Harry unveil Diana statue

London, Jul 1 (EFE).- The United Kingdom’s Princes William and Harry on Thursday unveiled a statue of their late mother Princess Diana on what would have been her 60th birthday.

The brothers, whose souring relationship has been the subject of intense media scrutiny, attended the ceremony at the Sunken Garden in Kensington Palace in London.

Their mother Princess Diana was killed in a Paris car crash in 1997, when William was 15 and Harry just 12.

Prince Harry has been in the media spotlight this year following his criticism of life as a British royal. In an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey alongside his wife, American actor Meghan Markle, he said William and their father, Prince Charles, were trapped by the family.

The couple said they had also experienced racism against their first-born, Archie, who is mixed race.

They are the grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II and William is second in line to the throne after his father. EFE
