Israeli troops kill Palestinian teen in Hebron
Jerusalem, Aug 9 (EFE).- Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers fatally shot a 17-year-old Palestinian boy in the West Bank city of Hebron on Tuesday, hours after killing three Palestinian men, including a militant accused of terrorism.
Moamen Yassin Jaber was hit by an explosive round that pierced his heart and died at Al-Ahli Hospital, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.
Wafa, the official Palestinian news agency, reported that witnesses saw “Israeli snipers deployed on rooftops in the area” fire at Jaber and at a 15-year-old boy who was shot in the foot and detained.
Elsewhere in Hebron, according to Wafa, IDF troops at a checkpoint “assaulted Fayzeh Abu Shamsiya for filming them while holding a minor.”
Separately, the Red Crescent said that 15 Palestinians were injured in Beit El, a village on the outskirts of Ramallah.
Three of the casualties were hit by live rounds, while five others were shot with rubber bullets and the rest received treatment for the effects of tear gas.
The day’s violence began with an Israeli raid in Nablus targeting Ibrahim Nabulsi, a commander in the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of the Fatah movement, which controls the Palestinian National Authority administration on the West Bank.
Nabulsi and two other men, identified as Islam Sabbouh and Hussein Jamal Taha, died and 40 people were wounded.
The IDF said that Nabulsi took part earlier this year in an attack on the Joseph’s Tomb complex, a pilgrimage site for Jewish settlers on the West Bank.
The Palestinian prime minister, Muhammad Shtayyeh, described the recent actions of Israeli security forces as “organized terrorism” and accused Israel of carrying out “ethnic cleansing” in East Jerusalem.
