Steph Curry breaks Ray Allen’s NBA 3-point record

Sports Desk, Dec 14 (EFE).- Stephen Curry surpassed Ray Allen to set a new record for 3-pointers in the NBA after he netted his 2,974th against the New York Knicks.

The Golden State Warriors point guard achieved the feat in New York on Tuesday.

Ray Allen hit his 2,973rd 3-pointer for the Miami Heat before he retired in 2014.

Expectations were high as Curry took to the court at Madison Square Garden but it only took him a minute to pull-off a perfect 3-pointer to match the standing record.

During the following run of play he tried to sink one more to no avail. Three minutes later, however, the new record was his.

It took Allen 501 more games than Curry to set the 3-pointer record, which now stands at 2,977.

The achievement cements Curry’s status as one of the NBA’s all-time greats.EFE
