“Succession,” “Ted Lasso,” “The White Lotus” heading Emmy nominations list

Los Angeles, Jul 12 (EFE).- The television drama series “Succession” received 25 nominations for the 74th edition of the Emmy Awards, emerging as the top-nominated production followed by “Ted Lasso” and “The White Lotus,” both of which received 20 nods, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, known as the Television Academy, announced Tuesday.

None of the three productions garnering the most nominations will compete in the same main category, with “Succession” vying for best dramatic series category, “Ted Lasso” for best comedy series and “The White Lotus” for the season’s best miniseries.

Despite the success of “Succession” with its 25 nominations, it still remains far from the historic record set by “Game of Thrones,” which received 32 Emmy nominations in assorted categories in 2019.

“Succession,” which won the best dramatic series award in 2020, will compete this year with “Squid Game,” “Stranger Things,” “Ozark,” “Better Call Saul,” “Euphoria,” “Severance” and “Yellowjackets.”

For its part, the 20 nominations received by “Ted Lasso,” which airs on Apple TV+ and garnered seven awards last year, are comparable to the 22 nominations received by “30 Rock” in 2009, when it became the comedy series receiving the most Emmy nominations in history.

Also competing for the Emmy for best comedy series will be “Hacks,” “Abbott Elementary,” “Barry,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Only Murders in the Building” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”

“The White Lotus” will vie for the Emmy for best limited series, or mini-series, will “Inventing Anna,” “The Dropout,” “Dopesick” and “Pam & Tommy.”

Both “Succession” and “The White Lotus” are productions appearing on HBO.

The 74th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on Monday, Sept. 12, in a live telecast starting at 8 pm on NBC.
