Sweden, Finland to attend Nato summit in Madrid

Davos, Switzerland, May 24 (EFE).- The leaders of Sweden and Finland, two nations that have requested Nato membership in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, will be in attendance at the Alliance’s summit in Madrid next month, Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez confirmed Tuesday.

Sánchez, whose country will host the summit on June 29-30, confirmed their attendance during a conference at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he underlined the importance of strengthening Nato in the face of Russia’s hostilities in Ukraine.

The prime minister added that the accession of the Nordic countries would strengthen both Nato and the European Union.

He said Spain was preparing to host an informal dinner between Nato members and European allies. EFE
