Swiatek, Gauff to go head-to-head in Roland Garros final

Paris, Jun 2 (EFE).- Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff will go head to head for the French Open title after winning their respective semifinal ties at Roland Garros on Thursday.

Pole Swiatek brushed aside her Russian opponent Daria Kasatkina 6-2, 6-1 to set up a second shot at the French Open title following her victory in 2020.

It was the top-seeded player’s 34th consecutive win, which brings her level with the second-longest winning streak this century, which was set by Serena Williams.

A win in the final and she would go level with this century’s longest winning streak, which is held by Venus Williams.

The 21-year-old will have to battle her way past 18-year-old Gauff in Saturday’s final after the American beat Italian Martina Trevisan 6-3, 6-1 to progress from the semifinal. EFE
