Yerry Mina’s own goal helps Peru to 2-1 win over Colombia

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Jun 17 (EFE).- Aided by an own goal by defender Yerry Mina, Peru beat Colombia 2-1 on Matchday 3 of their Copa America Group B game at the Pedro Ludovico Olympic Stadium in Goiânia, Brazil, on Sunday.

Although Colombia dominated the match at the start, Peru scored in the 17th minute when Sergio Peña hammered home a rebound from inside the box after a Yoshimar Yotun shot came back off the post.

Miguel Borja’s penalty eight minutes into the second half helped Colombia level the score 1-1 but an own goal by Yerry Mina in the 64th minute undid the good work and sealed the win for Peru.

Peru now occupies third spot in the five-team Group B with three points, while Colombia remains in second place with four.

Colombia will play against leader Brazil at Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday while Peru will face Ecuador at Pedro Ludovico Olympic Stadium. EFE
