Barcelona resume training minus international players

Barcelona, Mar 30 (EFE).- FC Barcelona resumed group training  Tuesday after a day of individual workouts in compliance with LaLiga’s pandemic protocols to restart activities after a break.

The Barça players who were not called up by their respective national teams for World Cup qualifiers and other international ties enjoyed a four-day break last week.

With the internationals yet to return, coach Ronald Koeman incorporated three players from Barcelona’s B team, Iñaki Peña, Arnau Tenas and Ilaix Moriba, into Tuesday’s session.

Wednesday’s practice will likewise be without most of the international players.

The Catalan team will host 16th-place Valladolid on April 5 hoping to pick up from where they left off before the international break.

In their last two LaLiga games ahead of the international break, Barcelona crushed Real Sociedad 6-1 and rolled 4-1 over Huesca.

Those victories helped to ease the pain for Barça after they were eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16 by Paris Saint-Germain, last season’s runners-up in Europe’s elite club competition.

The Blaugrana played well in the second leg in Paris, securing a 1-1 draw, but they left themselves too steep a mountain to climb with their 4-1 loss at Camp Nou in the first leg. EFE-EPA
